Yusuf Meherally Centre: Appeal for Support for Rehabilitation in Maharashtra

The recent calamity of floods in different parts, not just in  Maharashtra, but in many parts of India need no description besides 3 districts viz Kolahapur, Sangli and Satara, many parts of Gadchiroli  dist.  and Konkan region are also severely affected in Maharashtra State.

This is an urgent appeal to all of you, appeal to your generosity, appeal to your humanitarian attitude.

The scale and impact of the tragedy has caused a sense of helplessness amongst the people—rich and poor, without any bars of caste, creed or religion. The efforts are needed not just of physical support but we need to give them confidence, a ‘WE’ feeling while working on relief and rehabilitation so that our interventions are meaningful and effective.

You are aware that YMC has vast experience of disaster relief work in different places such as Gujarat, Tamilnadu, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir as well as in Kerala. Relief work has been done depending on the nature of disaster, ranging from distributing dry ration, clothing, medicines and tarpaulin, for medium to long term work, village in Kerala namely Thalavady dist.  Is supported for reestablishing school lab, anaganwadi center, water purification plants and many such initiatives.

YMC is again geared up to be with the affected people. But, we need your support for helping vulnerable families/villages.

YMC has identified a few villages which are completely washed out. YMC is active in rehab efforts in collaboration with Rashtra Seva Dal (RSD) and S.M.Joshi Socialist Foundation—both Pune based organizations, having good base in all three districts.

We look forward to your urgent support to be sent to
